Teamcamp 2022: Work, leisure, and lots of fun
In the midst of the second Corona winter, with mandatory masks, LockDowns, and travel restrictions still abound, the story of our yearly team camp begins. While the start of 2022 provided a dark outlook, by August, we had optimistically started planning for our team vacation. Last year, we were able to host our team camp at the Hotel Wetterhorn in Hasliberg despite the pandemic. With said past experience in mind, full of confidence, we started searching for this year’s location. We landed on one in the Black Forest: Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten at Schluchsee.
Our Location at the Schluchsee in Schwarzwald
Fortunately, we were able to depart for Schluchsee on August 29th without any further restrictions. We were excited not only to work on exciting projects during our four-day team camp but also to spend our free time together as a team. On LinkedIn, you can find snapshots of our bike tour, beer jug pushing, rubber boot tossing, and glimpses into some projects we worked on.

Luxury and freedom in Schwarzwald
Shortly after our arrival, the team already felt very comfortable. In addition to Schwarzwald's hospitality and gastronomy, we were also spoiled by the weather. After coding sessions at outdoor events, we were able to clear our heads underneath a wonderfully sunny sky. And when our bodies and soul were tired in the evening, sauna sessions ensured that we could start our projects the next day feeling fully refreshed.

The “youngest gets the family suite” anecdote
We’re not big on the ideas of hierarchy and enforcing status. We always try to share privileges and benefits equally. This mindset reminds us of last year’s camp. At the time we faced the issue of the hotel only being able to offer rooms of different sizes, bed numbers, and comfort levels. It was up to us to distribute them amongst our team. Our solution was simple: all team members would draw lots. Every possibility from shared rooms to family suites was available in the hat we drew from. The “lucky punch” was made by our youngest, Julian, who moved into the chic suite on the top floor. Julian says he still remembers this day fondly.

Our team camp conclusion
Even if working from home is a good thing - we are convinced that it's the mix that makes a difference! The personal and communal discussion of projects, the conversations over a cup of coffee, and simply doing something together strengthens us as a team and makes our work better. Our four-day break in the mountains of the Black Forest did us a world of good. United, we will be able to confidently tackle the last four months of this “special” year and continue full steam ahead - for you and your projects, too, of course!
